Using Rock in Landscaping

The presence of rocks in a garden is calming and peaceful. Using different types of rock products to enhance your landscaping can bring a natural element, as well as, a radiance to your landscaping that contrasts with your lawn and flowers. Creating a rock garden is possible in even the smallest garden. Sitting in a quiet corner contemplating plants growing in harmony with rocks is a respite from the busy outside world.

Aesthetically, local stones and rocks add a cohesive look, especially if there are already naturally occurring rock elements in your garden.

Water also intensifies subtle colors, sharpens contrast, and makes rocks and stones reflect like a mirror. Dull or dry rocks reveal their full beauty and character when wet, so submerge them or let droplets splash from a water feature.

This stunning garden showcases a pond-less, four-tier waterfall. Terrain worked with the client to create the oversized bluestone patio, floating paver deck, and structural rockery walls during this multi-phase project. This acre+ estate continues to mature into a beautiful botanical retreat.

In this Art Beach Project Terrain worked with the LA and GC to build a useable beach and access for the family to what used to be an old failing bulkhead. The clients vast art collection is prominently featured indoors and outdoors. The beach stone was hand selected and quarried from a Montana provider.

Garden Paradise view home project entailed a full landscape installation. Starting with a custom built wood privacy screen,  a cascading pond-less waterfall, and custom sand-set bluestone walkways; the front entry was formalized by a large stone and wood arbor. The homeowners are avid garden enthusiasts and continue to maintain this showpiece city garden.

This Rainforest Garden project started with a basement wall leaking below a large concrete front entry that couldn’t be removed. Terrain solved this issue by installing a cutting edge waterproofing membrane and flashing detail. Next step was a new mortar set bluestone and railing re-install. The work extended to re-setting of the existing patina patio to retain the mature look and feel. The challenging site was easily accessed using Terrains cubic yard bag delivery.
